Music meets games on the 6th of November!
Welcome to spend the day with game music and video games. The event offers insights from game industry professionals and chances for game and music creators to meet.
The event is free and open to everyone. Registration is required for on-site participation.
Registration is open until 3.11.2024.
The event is in English.
What is Game Week?
Game Week is an annual theme week dedicated to game education and game culture, celebrated every November! Game Week was first held in 2011 and is part of the international Games Month.
This year, the theme of Game Week is: Competition!
During the event you will have the chance to participate in the Game Week Tournament. The prize for the best player in Finland is max 300 e worth of digital and board games.

Is your creative muse on vacation? Use AI to help with songwriting! In this workshop, you’ll get to try how creating lyrics and writing a song works with the help of AI. At the end, you’ll get to listen to the song you made.
The workshop is arranged by the AI Academy project.

🎵 Keynote | Composer Petri Alanko (aka Lowland) is a three times BAFTA nominated Finnish composer, musician, sound designer and producer
His dynamic repertoire ranges from the haunting orchestral/electronic score for Remedy Entertainment’s psycho-thriller, Alan Wake, to elegant and sophisticated classical arrangements for Imaginaerum The Movie, based on the album by symphonic metal band Nightwish.

🎮 AI in the Game Industry | Jussi Tähtinen, CEO, Nitro Games
Jussi is a games industry veteran who has been developing games for +20 years. He’s the loud and proud CEO & Co-founder of NItro Games, a Nasdaq First North-listed Finnish games powerhouse focusing on mobile-first cross-platform games. Jussi is a versatile leader with experience from development and publishing to company management and funding.

♟️The Games in Architecture and Urban Planning: The Quest for GamEmancipation | PI, Marta Brković Dodig, researcher, LAND Lab, EPFL and EMPA, Switzerland; assistant professor in Singidunum University, Faculty of Media and Communications
She is an architect, who combines her work in academia, non-governmental organizations, and previously in design practices, tackling topics such as: design of schools and learning spaces, sustainable architecture, participatory planning and co-design, activism in architecture, built environment education for children, as well as research methods in architecture and urban planning with a focus on research by design and games.
🎮 Game Presentation: Norowareta: The Three Treasures | Christopher Solis
He is a former construction engineer from the Philippines. After moving to Finland, he decided to pursue his long-held passion for art and games, which he had previously set aside. Recently, he graduated with a degree in Game Design from Xamk. Currently, he serves as the Creative Director of a student game development team called Studio Crying Spider. In addition to his directorial role, he is also responsible for 3D animation, creating in-game character animations and 3D cutscenes for the team.

💬 Networking & FUELtank Collaboration Workshop for Game Designers & Music creators
The afternoon includes interesting takes on different themes around games and music, and networking in speed dating style facilitated by Game design student and IGDA Kymenlaakso Hub lead Pernilla “Nicky” Mickos.
Neighbourhood Curriculum Game Workshop
This workshop is invitation only for Tehtaanmäki School pupils, Xamk students, local munincipality administration and community members.
Marta Brkovic Dodig, an architect specialising in participation and games in architecture and urban planning will collaboratively organise with Xamk students a workshop in Alvar Aalto school in Kouvola.
The workshop will playtest the currently developed The Neighbourhood Curriculum game, which aims to bring teaching and learning outside schools into the local community.
This game jam is a part of the RELATE (www.relate.rs) research project funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.
What is FUELtank?
FUELtank is an event series that contains inspiring and thought-provoking presentations, speeches, experiments and workshops focused around a common theme. Each event explores its theme through different points of view. FUELtanks are organized by the Creative Industries Research Unit at Xamk, and by different research, development and innovation projects, and experts from various fields.
What is the Creative Industries Research Unit?
