Effective research and development in the youth sector
Impressive and youth-oriented expertise
The research areas combine youth research and youth sector development. Activities focus on strengthening youth participation, citizenship and equality as well as identifying factors related to social exclusion. In youth related basic and applied research, active social interaction and applying the research results in the development work are at focus. Youth sector and youth service development is done especially with experimental culture methodology together with stakeholders.
Combining research and development in the youth sector
Research and development related to the youth sector focuses especially on social sciences, educational sciences, and humanities. The operation aims to combine research and development to serve each other. In addition to research development, there is also a need for basic research in the youth sector. Juvenia’s expertise provides a framework for a versatile expert discussion, and the opportunity to react to the phenomena of the time.
Dialogue with the youth sector and young people
The research and development activities focus on strengthening the inclusion, citizenship and equality of young people and identifying exclusion related factors. Active social interaction is emphasized in basic and applied research related to young people. The development of the youth sector and youth services is done especially with the methods of experimental culture together with a wide network of stakeholders, which includes, for example, municipalities, ministries, and research organizations.
Youth orientation and emphasizing the importance of youth
Special features of expert work is related to be on the side of youth and young people, but without speaking for young people. The aim is to strengthen the young people’s own voice and faith of future for example by emphasizing the content produced by the young people themselves. Youth has an important independent value as a phase of a person’s life, when the boundaries of the personality are defined, and young person reaches out towards the unknown even as an unfinished individual. Youth orientation is promoted both in the development of youth services and in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of youth-related research.
Working together with youth work education
There is a continuous dialogue between research and development activities and teaching in the youth sector, and cooperation is implemented to develop expertise. The youth sector must react quickly to the phenomena of young people’s lives. Reacting is possible through the tripartite collaboration of research and development work, teaching and students in the sector. Cooperation work seamlessly, forming a dynamic learning environment, and is done with both youth and social sector education.
Multi-level and dynamic cooperation
Expert work in research and development projects takes place at the regional, national, and international level, with their special features. Young people, youth workers and those who decide on resources in the youth work sector are in attention separately. The goal is to secure for young people the opportunity for versatile participation in society, as equal and independent actors and as part of their peer groups and communities. Expertise is also widely exported to multi-sectoral cooperation and service development.
