Wood Modification


Wood modification refers to various processes and techniques that change or improve the properties of wood for specific uses. The most common methods of wood modification are heat treatment, chemical treatment and pressure impregnation.

More sustainable wood

We offer impregnation, drying and thermal modification of wood materials to support your product development. Our services include process optimization, chemical testing and sample handling according to your requirements.

We carry out various special treatments and dryings with our comprehensive laboratory equipment. If required, we also carry out testing of third-party modified material.

We have an HTD-dryer and four impregnation plants, which allows us to carry out a wide range of modification processes.

We also carry out delamination tests for glulam, EN 113 impregnation tests and EN 84 water soak tests.

The most common equipment used by Mikpolis for wood modification:

  • HTD-Dryer

    • maximum operating temperature +120 °C
    • warm air drying
    • vacuum drying
    • high-frequency vacuum drying
    • hybrid drying.

  • Pressure impregnation cylinder
    • cylinder capacity: 2050 l
    • maximum operating temperature: +75 °C
    • cylinder pressure range: -1…16 barg.

  • Hot impregnation equipment
    • volume of the cylinder and the heating tank: 250 l
    • maximum operating temperature: +200 °C
    • cylinder pressure range: -1…16 barg.

  • Delamination test facility
    • volume about 100 l

  • Negative pressure equipment
