Memory Campus goes international
The aim of the project is to promote the international activities, collaboration, and networks of Memory Campus and its actors as part of cluster work. The goal is to activate international cooperation and funding opportunities, strengthening RDI (Research, Development and Innovation) activities in line with the region’s strategic objectives. By accelerating RDI activities, the project addresses the objective of promoting international recruitment and attracting new talents to South Savo.
By making Memory Campus actors and their operating model internationally known, the project promotes the initiation of RDI activities, the emergence of new business, and the export of technologies and services. In addition, support is provided for Memory Campus participation in international networks and events, and its own international event is organized. The aim of the project is also to serve the development of other ecosystems in the area towards stronger cooperation and vibrant clusters alongside Memory Campus.

The project promotes the digitalization of Memory Campus and its actors by strengthening networking, developing expertise in information management and supporting companies and organizations in processing, preserving and utilizing information.
Central procedures of the project
The main objective of the project is to develop the Memory Campus ecosystem into a European cluster. The objective is achieved through 3 different procedures, which are:
1) Memory Campus will be registered as a cluster on the ECCP (European Cluster Collaboration Platform) platform
2) a plan will be drawn up to obtain a quality label for Memory Campus, meeting the bronze-level criteria set by EUCLES (European Cluster Labelling Excellence Structure).
3) An international conference will be organized in the city of Mikkeli, with current themes regarding information management and digital archiving.
DIGITAL ARCHIVING FUTURES EVENT 4-6 SEPTEMBER 2024
As part of the project, we are organizing, in collaboration with our partners and Memory Campus stakeholders, a two-day hybrid event called “Digital Archiving Futures” on the 4-6 of September 2024 in Mikkeli, Finland. The first day of the event, September 4th, is a “Pre-day” with side event meetings of partners and informal evening event and a keynote speaker at Muisti Centre of War and Peace (English). Second day is an international day and third day will be held in Finnish. Themes of the event are Data Spaces, Artificial Intelligence, and Cluster Collaboration.
