By fostering an innovative integration of game-based learning within the educational curricula, the project addresses the needs of the higher education sector.

Enhancing the proficiency of game-based learning

The main objective of the project is to raise inclusion of students in the learning process by increasing their internal motivation and engagement through (digital) game-based learning and gamification matched with the selected horizontal priorities.

The project consortium is led by UCM in Trnava and is comprised of notable institutions and organisations such as Comenius University, Impact Games, the University of Bielso-Biala, Tallinn University and Xamk.

  • Create evidence-based insights in the form of a report to inform the continuous improvement of educational game design and implementation practices
  • Facilitation of the dissemination of best practices and strategies for integrating educational games into educational curricula to promote innovative teaching and learning approaches
  • A comprehensive assessment framework focusing on various aspects such as learning objectives, game mechanics, engagement factors, inclusivity and alignment with educational goals

Priorities and Topics

The project will address digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity by:

Creating university courses for teachers in training where they will acquire skills and competences to implement (digital) game-based learning and gamification in their future practice as teachers.

Creation of university courses for game developers in training where they will acquire skills and competences to create (digital) educational games.

Bridging the university student communities of teachers in training and game developers in training (bridging the divide between the “Tech world” and “Edu world” at the early stage of professional development of students).

Strengthening the capabilities of higher education institutions in training skilled game developers

  • Train educators with game-based learning skills and educational game development skills
  • Increase the co-operation between pedagogical and game development faculties of higher education institutions in the project
  • Increase the number of educational games for teachers and teachers in training
  • Increase the number of educational games for students
