Towards a Kymenlaakso Startup and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem
To strengthen the startup and growth company ecosystem in Kymenlaakso, a network-based operational model will be created to provide comprehensive accelerator services for companies and student business ideas throughout the region.
The project is implemented with AKKE funding granted by the Regional Council of Kymenlaakso in collaboration with Kohoa Synergy Center, covering the entire Kymenlaakso area.

The goal of the KYMI ACCElerator project is to strengthen the startup and growth company ecosystem in Kymenlaakso by creating a network-based operational model that ensures comprehensive accelerator services for companies and students throughout the region. The project will develop and pilot a Kymenlaakso-specific accelerator model and assess the conditions for establishing a regional capital fund and utilizing other investor networks in the area.

- Mapping the current service offerings in the startup and growth entrepreneurship field in Kymenlaakso and consolidating them.
- Building accelerator services into a smooth and cohesive whole in collaboration with student programs and corporate acceleration programs in Kymenlaakso.
- Developing, piloting, and launching the Kymenlaakso-specific accelerator model.
- Strengthening the startup and growth company ecosystem, assembling, and unifying the network in Kymenlaakso from an accessibility perspective.
- Assessing the conditions for establishing a regional capital fund and exploring other potential investor networks that can be utilized in the area.
Kymi ACCElerator program
Kymi Accelerator will conduct two acceleration rounds in 2023-2024 for SMEs in Kymenlaakso. The free program will be implemented in both South and North Kymenlaakso. With the help of experts, the program provides growth for entrepreneurs, workshops, mentoring and networking events.

Road to *ship
The project supported the advancement of students’ business ideas with the Road to Ship student accelerator, which was also open to SMEs in the Kymi Accelerator business accelerator.
Delivered online with a focus on pitching! March-April 2024. Information, mentoring, exercises. Completely free, with the possibility of live mentoring in Kotka and Kouvola.
