Objectives of the Fishing Development Program

The short-term objective (2023–2024) is to initiate the network’s activities and enhance collaboration between the industry, research, administration, and other stakeholders. A specific goal is to strengthen cooperation between commercial fishers in marine and inland waters. The network also aims to expand and proactively address emerging challenges and opportunities in order to achieve long-term goals. At the same time, efforts will begin to seek external funding for projects aligned with the development plan.

The medium-term objective (2023–2026) is to test, develop, and disseminate new practices and technologies that will be implemented during the first half of the program.

The long-term objective (2023–2028) of the program is to increase the profitability and volume of commercial fishing in offshore waters, coastal areas, and inland waters. This goal will be achieved by implementing new technologies and improving the ecologically sustainable use of fish stocks. At the same time, the program will prepare for future technologies and operational methods. One of the defining factors for these objectives is the targets set for commercial fishing in the National Fish Promotion Program.
