Objectives
The goal of the project is to improve employment and increase education and reduce interruptions in young people’s educational paths in Kymenlaakso. In the project, the skills needs of the company’s employees are mapped, trainings are tailored, surveys are carried out, skills are developed and the employment of young people is especially supported.
The goal of the project is to support and promote the re-employment of peat entrepreneurs and other operators in the peat sector or its related sectors or the start of a new business.
The project aims to diversify the regional economy, promote internationalization and improve employment during the green transition and global crises. The project also diversifies the economic structure of the region, increases employment and strengthens the region’s research, development and innovation activities, as well as the cooperation of companies.

Target groups
- Age group: all residents of Kymenlaakso over the age of 18 (the special target group is young people aged 18-29)

Impact factors of the project
Improvement of the employment rate: We will monitor the development of the employment rate in the region, especially for young people, and aim to achieve growth in employment.
Reduction of interruptions in young people’s educational paths: We assess the continuity of young people’s educational paths and aim to reduce the risk of a break between education and working life.
Responding to companies’ competence needs: We assess the companies’ needs in terms of competence and monitor how the project can respond to these needs in a more targeted manner.
The development of companies’ recruitment capabilities: We monitor the improvement of the efficiency of companies’ recruitment processes and their ability to attract and engage a skilled workforce.
Diversification of the area’s economic structure: The change of the area’s economic structure will be studied and how the project promotes the emergence or strengthening of new industries in the area.
Strengthening research, development and innovation activities: We will evaluate how the project strengthens the region’s RDI activities and the cooperation of companies in these fields.
