A way to internationalizion

The project develops food gift products as souvenirs and increases companies’ interest in internationalization throughout the region of Saimaa. In addition, a food souvenir sales network is created and food gift competitions are organized.

Food gifts bring visibility to the Saimaa area

As a result of the project, the know-how of entrepreneurs in the region of Saimaa in the productization of food gift products will develop and the enthusiasm of craft entrepreneurs for the design of food-related products will increase.

Cooperation between companies in the region is intensifying and networks are growing. The availability of gift products related to local food will improve and the number of local products in the product ranges of sales networks will increase.

The operating model for the productization of food gift products will become a permanent service form in the regions of South Savonia, South Karelia and North Karelia.

Competitive boost to internationalization!

The Saimaa Local Food Gift Challenge and the Finnish Food Gift Competition become an annual tradition. The competitions increase food awareness and international visibility of the area.

Key measures of the project

• Productization of food gift products in accordance with the service design process.
• Assembling a sales network and colliding actors.
• Production of marketing materials
• Implementation of the Local Food Gift Challenge and the national food gift competition.

As a key result of the project

  • Local food souvenirs can be seen in the selection of souvenirs in the region of Saimaa.
  • The sales location information is compiled on the tastesaimaa.fi website.
  • The Local Food Gift Challenge will feature high-quality food souvenirs that will do well in the World Food Gift Challenge.
