AMBIO- equipment project
The investments were used to supplement the equipment base of additive manufacturing to improve the competitiveness of the technology cluster both regionally and nationally in the development of new product innovations.
The most significant investment was one of the largest 3D printing equipment in Finland.
EQUIPMENT FOR 3D PRINTING FROM GRANULATES ALSO ON A LARGE SCALE
The goal of the AMBIO equipment project was to strengthen the experimental materials research in South Savo in the field of additive manufacturing. The target of the investments was large-scale 3D printing in the utilization and production of bio- and circular economy materials. The set of equipment implemented in the project brings international level tools to the province for experimental research and business cooperation in the processing of cellulose materials, biocomposites and circular economy materials.
The research and development equipment significantly strengthens the prerequisites for Xamk, the cooperating universities and the companies of the forest and technology cluster in the region to carry out applied research and development of wood composite materials. Larger-scale printing equipment, as the biggest investment in acquisitions, significantly increased innovation opportunities for material development in industrial wood construction as well.
The main actions of the project
The project included the following investments:
- 3D printing equipment for large scale
- A smaller granulate printer for material experiments
- Compact size injection molding machine
- Softwares
The project ended on 31 May 2024. Link to the final report of the AMBIO project pair: AMBIO loppuraportti
