The project is finished.

The objectives of the project are central to strengthening the vitality of Southern Savonia and making education and working life transitions more flexible. The project is based on the needs identified in the Southern Savonia competence strategy 2018–2021, and its key actors are secondary, higher education and liberal arts education actors from Southern Savonia. In order to strengthen the vitality, the aim of the project is to raise the profile of Southern Savonia as a region of education, increase its attractiveness, build connections to the region’s working life and raise the level of education.

In order to achieve the main objective, the project is structured into sub-objectives which are also linked to the development of career guidance.

Sub-objective 1: The project clarifies by means of service design the strengths and special characteristics of the various education providers, and develops common sustainable education paths.

Sub-objective 2: The project develops new types of customer-oriented methods to inform about educational paths, utilizing digital, game-based solutions.

Sub-objective 3: The project strengthens existing and pilots new work-based learning environments and genuine working environments that combine different actors and levels of education. In principle, these are attached to the cities of Mikkeli, Savonlinna and Pieksämäki.

As a result, the project will develop new training pathways for the needs that are identified in the competence strategy, as well as create centralized solutions and information channels that utilize user-oriented gamification, digital career guidance and service design. The development of common work life based learning environments for actors of different levels of education is also very important. At the end of the project, training services will be easier to find for the customers, co-operation between training providers will be strengthened and awareness of training opportunities within and outside of the province will increase. The development and integration of career guidance into various measures (also utilizing digital, gaming and artificial intelligence solutions) is very important. In the long run, these measures will increase the vitality and attractiveness of Southern Savonia through co-operation, common educational pathways and the development of common learning / working environments.
