Digi-RRT
sustainable competitiveness and security under drastic change of operational environment
The competitiveness of Kouvola Rail and Road Terminal (RRT) is enhanced by developing digital infrastructure and advancing business-oriented innovations.
Fluent logistics with digitalisation
Developing logistics with digitality and data
Digi-RRT project pilots national and international network concept of dry port operations in Kouvola and Kymenlaakso region. The concept of adapting terminal operations and national railroad network will be the first in Finland.
The project enhances regional objectives Kymenlaakso’s RIS3 strategy in smart and green logistics. At the same time, it strengthens international cooperation and wider utilisation of the EU’s international funding sources.
What is a digital green twin transition?
“It means the utilisation of digitality and data in a way, that it contributes to sustainable development and climate neutrality”.
Tarmo Halmineva, Project manager of Digi-RRT, Kouvola Innovation.
The Digi-RRT develops the digital infrastructure, advances the business-oriented innovations and promotes pioneership with sustainable paperless logistics.
The object is especially to support the Kymenlaakso region businesses to adapt and implementation of digital tools, to develop the cost-effectiveness, competitiveness and security, and to make efforts of sustainability visible complemented with search of new business opportunities and market areas.
This is what we do
The need for the development of digital infrastructure and services have been identified in an earlier project Railgate Finland – Smart Hub Solutions.
The Digi-RRT project aims to orienting logistics towards greener values, optimising logistic chains, and applying digital tools and data analytics focusing in intermodal and multimodal transport.
Three work packages focus on improving information flow, transparency, remote controlling, and competitiveness. Through these logistics can be optimised and enhanced, emissions reduced, and cost-effectiveness improved.
