BASCIL – Innovative Solutions Enhancing Sustainable Culinary Tourism Services Through Diversification in the Rural Food Production Sector is an international project involving 15 partners from 8 countries in the Baltic Sea region. From Finland, the partners are Xamk (South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences) and Lomalaidun ry, with South Savo and South Karelia as the pilot areas.
Project activities
The goal of the BASCIL project is to provide innovative and practical solutions for food producers operating in rural areas, specifically in the South Karelia and South Savo regions of Finland. These solutions will enable the expansion of their operations into the realm of food tourism. Project partners and stakeholders will collaboratively design and pilot products and service packages that combine food production with food tourism. These could include, for example, farm visits, cooking classes, tasting events or pop-up cafes. To increase visibility and accessibility, the project aims to identify new ways to market these developed products and services. The objective is to raise the profile of the Baltic Sea region as a food tourism destination and to showcase local food producers and the area.
