Number of applicants to Xamk’s english-languate degree programmes increased by 140%
The total number of applicants increased by as much as 140% compared to the previous year. Last year, there were 4,009 applications, while this year, the total number of applications rose to 9,473.
The number of first-choice applicants also grew, from 743 last year to 1553 this year, translating into an increase of 109%. The figures are preliminary and will be specified during February.
CEO and President Heikki Saastamoinen considers the increase in the number of applicants to be significant.
– The aim of Xamk is to develop the vitality of the regions through internationality. It takes many steps, one of which is to attract international students to campus cities. Now it seems that foreign applicants are very interested in Xamk.
The highest number of applicants were from Bangladesh.

The Degree Programmes in Digital International Business, Nursing and Information Technology were the most popular programmes. The Degree Programme in Digital International Business attracted the largest number of applicants, total of 3,701. This is the largest for a single degree programme in Xamk’s history.
The selection process will continue during the spring with possible degree programme specific preliminary assignments or entrance exams. The eligibility of the applicants will be checked by mid-February. The total results of the joint application procedure will be released on 2 June 2023 at the latest. The studies begin in autumn 2023.
