Welcome to Xamk!

Xamk is a higher education institution offering studies in English in many different study fields. We have campuses in the towns of Kotka, Kouvola, Mikkeli and Savonlinna, located in the beautiful region of South-Eastern Finland. Students from partner institutions of Xamk are welcome to apply for the practical training in Nursing. You can apply for the autumn term and spring term.

We launch a new offer of studies in Social Work and Health Care for incoming exchange students in autumn 2024. We offer studies in English worth 30 ECTS Credits.

Modes of mobility

Practical training

Educational Nursing Manager can arrange placements for exchange students from various different wards in community nursing, surgical and medical nursing, mental health care and so on. Please state out the areas of your interests in your application and we’ll do our best to find suitable wards for you.

During the academic year 2024 – 2025 we can offer placements in Community nursing, Gerontological nursing, Psychiatric nursing, Mental Health Care nursing and Disability nursing.

Placements are offered at the following wards at Mikkeli Central Hospital:

Medical nursing ward
Surgical nursing ward
Surgical care in various units
Medical care in various units
Neurological nursing ward, ward for rehabilitation patients
Dialysis
Acute Ward in health care center
Psychiatric ward

Please note that all placements/wards are not in the Mikkeli Central Hospital or in the centre of Mikkeli. Travelling costs are at student’s expense.

Studies in Social Work and Health Care include theory lessons about professional collaboration. Students are able to experience real working life and have the possibility to get to know working life experts through a development project. These studies may fit to nursing students as well.

Online Learning Agreement (OLA) for Erasmus+ applicants

As an applicant you need to prepare the Online Learning Agreement according to your home institution’s guidelines. If your home institution is not using OLA, please upload the fully signed Erasmus+ Learning agreement as PDF to your SoleMOVE application.

In addition to OLA you need to fill in your course wishes to the Proposed Study Plan section in your SoleMOVE application.
