Xamk is a higher education institution offering studies in English in many different study fields. We have campuses in the towns of Kotka, Kouvola, Mikkeli and Savonlinna, located in the beautiful region of South-Eastern Finland. Students from partner institutions of Xamk are welcome to apply for the exchange and double degree studies in Information technology.

Content of studies
Network technology competence is the main competence. You will get the skills to design, build and maintain small and medium size business reliable network systems. These systems contain:
- different kind wired or wireless networks
- networking and data transfer technics
- setting up and maintaining servers.
To verify the functioning of the system, you need programming skills. You may also include more programming in your curriculum.
To reach these goals you study also some physics, electronics and mathematics with project management knowledge and skills. There are lectures but also a lot of practical experiments in your studies.
Modes of mobility
Exchange studies
We offer you studies in different aspects of information technology, including network technologies, hardware and software engineering with some media content. Exchange students can apply for the autumn term, spring term or the whole academic year. It is possible to complete 30 ECTS credits or more/semester. Language of instruction is English.
Double degree studies
In Information technology programme you will focus on networking. How the networks function and are managed. You will learn to build data secure, Internet connected wired or wireless local area networks. You can maintain and upgrade server systems.
You will study in Mikkeli for one academic year. Only the students of the partner institutions, with who we have a valid double degree agreement, can participate in double degree studies. If you are interested in the double degree studies, but you come from a university which is not listed among our double degree partner institutions, please contact the responsible coordinator.
