Mikkeli Water Week

Mikkeli Water Week brings out the importance and possibilities of water from different perspectives, from researchers to companies in the field, residents of the region and tourists. Mikkeli Water Week, organized every other year, offers an opportunity to exchange scientific information and experiences via speaker presentations, panel discussions, exhibitions, side events, dinners and networking.

Water is vital for life. Our lake nature is extremely valuable, and our province has the cleanest waters in the world. Water, forest and food are the focus points of the regional strategy of South Savo.

Mikkeli is a pioneer of water expertise. In the capital of clean water, know-how around water has been ambitiously and persistently built. That means education, research and development that produce new water supply solutions and business, resulting in vitality and well-being. These are also the goals of the Blue Economy Mikkeli center of excellence.

The program consists of several different events, e.g. The Finnish Lakeland Forum seminar and the international Emerging Trends in Water Treatment 2024 conference with accompanying programs. The organizers are the founders of the Blue Economy Mikkeli centre of excellence: the City of Mikkeli, LUT University, South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk), Mikkeli University Consortium (MUC) and Mikkeli development company Miksei.
