This website provides instructions for new students for paying the tuition fee for degree studies at South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences – Xamk.

Tuition fees at Xamk
Annual tuition fees are:
- Bachelor’s degrees 10 700 euros / academic year
- Master’s degrees 13 500 euros / academic year
The estimated duration of the studies is 3,5-4 academic years for bachelor’s degrees and 2-3 academic years for master’s degrees, depending on the extent of the degree. One academic year consists of two semesters.
The tuition fee for one academic year is paid in one instalment, it is generally not possible to pay the fee in parts.
Tuition fee for degree programmes beginning in January
For the degree programmes beginning in January, the fee is paid for the first semester separately (50% of the full fee), after which the academic year timeline (full fee, two semesters) is followed.
How to pay the tuition fee
You can easily pay your tuition fee online via Flywire, Xamk’s preferred payment partner. Paying tuition fee with Flywire is safe, fast, and convenient. The available payment methods for different countries can be found from the service. For most countries, bank transfer if one of the payment options available.
Flywire provides a secure global payment network that simplifies paying your fees from your home country and countries around the world. Payment options can include bank transfers, credit cards, e-wallets and more, typically in your home currency for most countries.
Initiate the payment in Flywire portal
- Choose country of payment and enter the required tuition fee amount.
- Choose the preferred method of payment.
- Enter your details: Create your account, then enter some basic information to initiate your payment. Flywire will include this information with your payment for easy identification by our staff. Please note; you have to add first payer information and then student information.
- Make your payment: Follow the instructions provided to send funds to Flywire via your selected method.
- Track and confirm: Track your payment by logging into your Flywire account at any time. Receive text and email status updates each step of the way, including confirmation when your payment has been delivered.
Important! When paying, check the payment deadline and the correct payment details from the offer of admission before paying. This is to avoid problems with payment tracking. The details that must be correctly given on the payment form include:
- Amount of the tuition fee
- Degree programme
- Academic year/semester: academic year 2025-2026
- If you pay with bank transfer: when making a SWIFT international transfer, you should always select “OUR” in the Details of charges section to avoid banks deducting additional fees for your transfer after completing your payment. Further information on Flywire.
You can pay the Early Bird price only if you have been offered the Early Bird scholarship, and you have accepted the offer of admission by the given deadline.
Refund policy
The paid tuition fee can be refunded to new students in the following cases only:
- Residence permit for the studies arranged on campus is not granted. Please note that the fee will not be refunded if you withdraw your residence permit application. The refund is possible also if you are not granted a visa for entering the country where you need to travel to prove your identity in person for the residence permit. In this case you must provide proof of a negative visa decision and a pending residence permit application certificate from Enter Finland service.
- Your enrolment status is changed to non-attendant after paying the fee but before the enrolment deadline (autumn applications: 28 November 2024, spring applications: 10 July 2025). Read more about the enrolment for non-attendance.
- Please notice that you cannot get refunds if you do not want to start studying at Xamk after accepting the school place.

When the studies are delivered in-class on one of Xamk campuses, students must be present on the campus when the studies begin in August 2025.
- You can ask for a refund on the paid tuition fee if you receive a negative residence permit decision.
Updates for the refund policy may be published by April 2025.
Digital International Business/Kouvola
The studies are full-time, and delivered in-class on Kouvola campus. It is not possible to begin the studies online. All students must be present on campus on 13 January 2025. The next possibility to start studies after that will be in August 2025 with a new group.
- If you are not able to join the studies on campus on 13 January 2025, the tuition fee paid will be automatically transferred to the autumn semester 2025. You will be required to pay the tuition fee for the spring semester 2026 (5 350 euros) by 31 August 2025.
- You can ask for a refund on the paid tuition fee if you receive a negative residence permit decision.
Game Design/Kouvola
The studies are part-time, and include in-class studies on Kouvola campus. It is not possible to begin the studies online. All students must be present on campus on 30 January 2025 at the latest. The next possibility to start studies after that will be in January 2026 with a new group.
- If you are not able to join the studies on campus on 30 January 2025 at the latest, the tuition fee paid will be automatically transferred to the spring semester 2026.
- You can ask for a refund on the paid tuition fee if you receive a negative residence permit decision.
Game Technologies/Kotka
The studies are full-time, and delivered in-class on Kotka campus. It is not possible to begin the studies online. All students must be present on campus on 13 January 2025. The next possibility to start studies after that will be in January 2026 with a new group.
- If you are not able to join the studies on campus on 13 January 2025, the tuition fee paid will be automatically transferred to the spring semester 2026.
- You can ask for a refund on the paid tuition fee if you receive a negative residence permit decision.
International Business Management (Master)/Kouvola
The studies are part-time, and include in-class studies on Kouvola campus. It is not possible to begin the studies online. All students must be present on campus on 30 January 2025 at the latest. The next possibility to start studies after that will be in January 2026 with a new group.
- If you are not able to join the studies on campus on 30 January 2025 at the latest, the tuition fee paid will be automatically transferred to the spring semester 2026.
- You can ask for a refund on the paid tuition fee if you receive a negative residence permit decision.

- If you are not able to join the studies on campus by 9 September 2024, the tuition fee paid will be automatically transferred to the spring semester 2025 and autumn semester 2025.
- You can ask for a refund on the paid tuition fee if you receive a negative residence permit decision.

The studies are delivered in-class on the relevant Xamk campus. It is not possible to begin the studies online. All students must be present on campus by 9 September 2024. The next possibility to start studies after that will be in August 2025 with a new group.
- If you are not able to join the studies on campus by 9 September 2024, the paid tuition fee for academic year 2024-2025 will be automatically transferred to the academic year 2025-2026.
- You can ask for a refund on the paid tuition fee if you receive a negative residence permit decision.
Scholarships
The Early Bird scholarship is a 10% discount on the tuition fee of the first study year at Xamk.
You can get the Early Bird scholarship if you:
- accept the offer of admission within one week (7 days) from the admission and
- pay the tuition fee with 10% discount within three weeks (21 days) from the admission.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, you must follow the deadlines given in the offer of admission.
If you do not follow the given deadlines, you will lose the Early Bird scholarship. You can still enrol for the studies by paying the full tuition fee as follows:
- Direct application, autumn 2024 and Joint application, autumn 2024 (January 2025 intake): 5 350 euros / 6 750 euros by 28 November 2024 (fee for one semester)
- Rolling admission (August 2025 intake): 10 700 euros / 13 500 euros within 3 weeks (21 days) from the offer of admission (fee for two semesters). The deadline is given in the offer of admission.
- Joint application, spring 2025 (August 2025 intake): 10 700 euros / 13 500 euros by 10 July 2025 (fee for two semesters)
Check your offer of admission for information on the availability of the Early Bird scholarship and the exact deadlines for it.
During the studies, you can apply for a scholarship at the end of each study year and get a 20% discount on the following year’s tuition fee by progressing in the studies well.
Sufficient progress for the scholarship means completing 55 ECTS credits during the academic year, except in the degree programmes beginning in January where you need 27 ECTS credits from the first semester to qualify for the scholarship. Studies (credits) completed during the academic year are considered in the scholarship.
You are offered at least 60 ECTS credits of studies per academic year (1 August – 31 July), or 30 ECTS credits per academic semester (1 August – 31 December, 1 January – 31 July).
To encourage to be part of the Finnish society, students who qualify for the scholarship based on study progress, can raise their discount on the following year’s tuition fee to up to 35% by being active in their local community.
During your studies you can perform various activities, such as being part of a locally operating association as a hobby instructor or part of a hobby group, voluntary work, Talent Boost (your local support network for finding opportunities in Finland) events, community activities, student union activities, and regular work.
Additional deductions for the following academic year’s tuition fee are available also for studies you complete in Finnish language and culture. If you qualify for the scholarship based on study progress, you can also apply for scholarship based on the Finnish language and culture studies (studies completed during the academic year in question).

You apply for the scholarship based on study progress, Xamk Award and scholarship based on Finnish language studies with one application. The scholarship application must be submitted by 31 July 2025 (August 2024 and January 2025 intakes) / by 31 July 2026 (August 2025 intake).
Tuition fee and scholarship timetable
The tuition fee is to be paid annually before the studies begin / at the beginning of the academic year:
- for the 1st study year or 1st study semester by the deadline given in the offer of admission
- for other study years by 31 August.
The scholarship application is submitted annually at the end of each academic year. Application for all parts of the scholarship system included in the same time application. The application must be submitted by 31 July at the latest but can be submitted earlier, if the required total credit amount and relevant Finnish language studies have been registered, and all Xamk Award activities to be included in the application have been documented.
Examples on the tuition fee and scholarship timetable
When you have gained admission for the autumn semester 2025 (August 2025 intake):
- Pay the tuition fee for the first study year. Exact deadlines are given in the offer of admission.
- Tuition fee with the Early Bird scholarship: 9 630 euros, Bachelor / 12 150 euros, Master. Condition: accept the offer of admission within 1 week from the admission, and pay the tuition fee within 3 weeks from the admission.
- Full tuition fee: 10 700 euros, Bachelor / 13 500 euros, Master. Payment deadline for full tuition fee:
- If admitted in Rolling admission: also the full tuition fee must be paid within 3 weeks from admission.
- If admitted in Joint application: by 10 July 2025.
- The tuition fee covers two semesters of studies (August 2025 – July 2026).
- Apply for the scholarships based on studies and activities completed during the academic year 2025-2026 with one application by 31 July 2026 at the latest. You can apply for the scholarship already earlier if the required credit amount (55 credits or more) and Finnish language studies you have completed during the academic year have been registered, and all Xamk Award activities you want to be included in the application have been documented.
- You are informed the tuition fee to be paid for the academic year 2026-2027 in the scholarship decision. The amount to be paid depends on the scholarships granted to you. The scholarship decision is made by 15 August 2026.
- You must pay the tuition fee for the academic year 2026-2027 by 31 August 2026.
Examples on tuition fees for other study years, based on granted scholarships:
- If you are granted the scholarship based on study progress (20% discount), you pay: 8 560 euros, Bachelor / 10 800 euros, Master
- If you are granted the scholarship based on study progress and 10 points for the Xamk award (25% discount), you pay: 8 025 euros, Bachelor / 10 125 euros, Master
- If you are granted the scholarship based on study progress, 20 points for the Xamk Award (30% discount) and you have completed 10 credits of Finnish language studies during the year (200 euros / 5 cr), you pay: 7 090 euros, Bachelor / 9 050 euros, Master
When you have gained admission for the spring semester 2025 (January 2025 intake):
- You pay the tuition fee with Early Bird scholarship by the deadline given in the offer of admission (4 815 euros, Bachelor / 6 075 euros, Master) or you pay the full tuition fee (5 350 euros, Bachelor / 6 750 euros, Master) by 28 November 2024. The tuition fee covers one semester of studies (January – July 2025).
- Apply for the scholarships based on studies and activities completed during the spring semester 2025 with one application by 31 July 2025 at the latest. You can apply for the scholarship already earlier if the required total credit amount (27 credits or more) and Finnish language studies you have completed during the academic year have been registered, and all Xamk Award activities you want to be included in the application have been documented.
- You are informed the tuition fee to be paid for the academic year 2025-2026 in the scholarship decision. The amount to be paid depends on the scholarships granted to you. The scholarship decision is made by 15 August 2025.
- You must pay the tuition fee for the academic year 2025-2026 by 31 August 2025.
Examples on tuition fees for other study years, based on granted scholarships:
- If you are granted the scholarship based on study progress (20% discount), you pay: 8 560 euros, Bachelor / 10 800 euros, Master
- If you are granted the scholarship based on study progress and 6 points for the Xamk Award (25% discount), you pay: 8 025 euros, Bachelor / 10 125 euros, Master
- If you are granted the scholarship based on study progress, 8 points for the Xamk Award (30% discount) and you have completed 5 credits of Finnish language studies during the semester (200 euros / 5 cr), you pay: 7 290 euros, Bachelor / 9 250 euros, Master
When you have gained admission for the autumn semester 2024 (August 2024 intake):
- You pay the tuition fee with Early Bird scholarship by the deadline given in the offer of admission (9 630 euros, Bachelor / 12 150 euros, Master) or you pay the full tuition fee (10 700 euros, Bachelor / 13 500 euros, Master) by 11 July 2024. The tuition fee covers two semesters of studies (August 2024 – July 2025).
- Apply for the scholarships based on studies and activities completed during the academic year 2024-2025 with one application by 31 July 2025 at the latest. You can apply for the scholarship already earlier if the required credit amount (55 credits or more) and Finnish language studies you have completed during the academic year have been registered, and all Xamk Award activities you want to be included in the application have been documented.
- You are informed the tuition fee to be paid for the academic year 2025-2026 in the scholarship decision. The amount to be paid depends on the scholarships granted to you. The scholarship decision is made by 15 August 2025.
- You must pay the tuition fee for the academic year 2025-2026 by 31 August 2025.
