Application on the basis of Open UAS studies, Autumn 2024

The required credit amount is as follows:

You can apply to degree studies at Xamk after you have completed the required amount of open path studies in an Open University of Applied Sciences in Finland.

• 50 credits of bachelor level studies or
• 15 credits of master level studies (path for the degree of 60 credits)
• 30 credits of master level studies (path for the degree of 90 credits).

The application can be submitted even if the required credit amount is not yet recorded in the study register. The studies must be completed as follows:

• October application: by 31 December, the study records are checked by 15 January
• May application: by 31 July, the study records are checked by 15 August

If the required credit amount is not in the study register at the time of applying, the admission is conditional. If the requirement is not met by the time of the check-up, the admission is withdrawn.

Two application periods a year 1-15 May/1-15 October

Your application is processed approximately within one month from the time the application closes. Admission results are published by 15 November / 20 June.

Eligibility and admission criteria

The degree programme you apply to must generally be the same where you have studied as an Open student. The courses which give eligibility for applying in this admission must be mostly the degree studies’ first year compulsory courses. The suitability of Open path studies completed outside Xamk is individually considered.

When applying for a master’s degree programme, you must in addition meet the general eligibility requirement for the studies (suitable higher education degree and a minimum of 2 years’ of work experience after completing the degree).

Application form

Application form is submitted at Studyinfo service during the application period. The application form closes on the last application day at 3 pm Finnish time.

Attachments

Attach an up-to-date transcript of records of your open UAS studies to your application form. The certificate must be official and confirmed by the current higher education institution. If you have completed the open UAS studies at Xamk, you can download a transcript of records from Peppi by yourself for attachment.

If you apply to a Master’s degree programme, you also need to attach the following documents:

• a copy of degree certificate giving eligibility to apply to the degree programme in question
• copies of work certificates (minimum 2 years / 24 months) from the field after graduation

Joint Application is also an option

Remember that you can also apply for degree studies through Joint Application. Timetables can be found on our Applying website.

If you are selected for the degree studies through Joint Application or through the Application from open path to degree studies, you will continue your studies according to your personal study plan. All credits completed through Open path studies are transferred to the degree studies.

Tuition Fees 2024-2025

• Bachelor’s degrees 10 700 euros / academic year
• Master’s degrees 13 500 euros / academic year

Early Bird

The Early Bird scholarship is a 10% discount on the tuition fee of the first study year at Xamk.

You can get the scholarship if you:

• accept the offer of admission from Xamk within 7 days from the admission notice and
• pay the tuition fee within 21 days from the admission notice.

Please note that the Early Bird scholarship may not be available in all separate applications. The availability of the Early Bird scholarship and the exact deadlines are informed in the offer of admission.
